On Monday, December 7, 2015 at 7:00 pm the church hosted a talk by Evan Mehlenbacher, CSB as the featured speaker on the topic, “The Gift Of Christian Healing” in Roanoke, Virginia
Christmas celebrates the birthday of Jesus Christ, but it also marks the birth of Christian healing, Mehlenbacher points out. He explained in this talk that the gift of Christian healing Jesus shared with the world is still with us, and can be practiced today.
Shortly after graduating from Stanford, Evan went into the full-time ministry of healing others through prayer. He has written dozens of published articles and lectured on the subject of prayer-based healing for more than 20 years.
Mehlenbacher is a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship. He travels from his home in Richland, Washington, USA. You can learn about Evan at his website http://spiritview.net/

Listening To Angels, The Message Of Love And Healing
On June 8, 2014 at 2:00 pm at First Church of Christ, Scientist in Roanoke, Virginia the church hosted guest lecture by international speaker Fujiko Signs. Fujiko discussed ANGELS, TRANSFORMATION AND HEALING and explored how you can experience divine, comforting, strengthening messages (angels) in your life.
Here’s an excerpt from her popular lecture.
About The Speaker:
Pleasant Gap, Pennsylvania USA and Tokyo, Japan — Fujiko Signs comes from Tokyo, Japan and has a family, husband and two daughters working in the US.
She is a student, practitioner, and teacher of Christian Science. She studies the relationship between prayer and healing, consciousness and reality, spirituality and wellbeing. Her job is to find out how we can free ourselves from various limitations.
While her husband’s job took Fujiko across the United States, she worked as a market research consultant for computer manufacturing companies and taught Japanese language and literature at community colleges and universities. She also taught dance to children.
In her mid-thirties, Fujiko fell ill and sought healing through different treatments, but none of them gave her a lasting cure. One day, to her surprise, she found that the healing of Christ Jesus was possible now and learnable. As soon as she started reading about this system of healing in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, a respected American healer and religious leader, she was relieved from various symptoms that had limited her before. As she studied and learned more about Christian Science, she witnessed many healings within her family and circle of friends and eventually received requests to assist others with prayer.
After becoming a Christian Science practitioner, she was asked to talk with doctors and nurses about patients with a desire to practice non-traditional medicine, including prayer and meditation. She also volunteered in a community coalition in hopes of encouraging and enhancing communication between different faith groups that sought well-being in the community.

Meet The Speaker
Mark Swinney has dedicated his life to praying with people and, as a teacher of Christian Science, empowering people to pray effectively for themselves. For more than two decades now, Mark has devoted his full time to the public practice of healing spiritually. His love for God shines very brightly, and he has traveled much of the world speaking honestly and candidly about the healing power of prayer.
A long-time writer, Mark was managing editor for some of the Christian Science magazines, editor of the book, Healing Spiritually, as well as editor for The Mother Church’s first web site. Since serving as President of the church, Mark and his wife, Renee, reside full time in beautiful New Mexico.
